Blue Mountains Walkabout

Blue Mountains, New South Wales

A challenging adventure in the Blue Mountains into the Aboriginal dreamtime and an ancient cultural rite of passage. Venture off track to feel the freedom of endless wilderness and a timeless connection to sacred land.

Blue Mountains Walkabout invites you to explore a lost world of amazing Aboriginal sites. Become a part of the dreamtime and gain a special understanding of the local Aboriginal culture by actually experiencing what Aboriginal life used to be like.

Blue Mountains Walkabout is a challenging eight kilometre long track through secluded wilderness, with 8 hours in the bush – balanced between adventurous trekking, interpretation and relaxation. Find secret places and hidden wonders that you will not see on any other Blue Mountains walk or tour.

The tour includes dreaming stories, engravings, songlines, bush tucker tasting, ochre bark and body painting, ancient art sites and relics, swimming in a clear billabong with a rainbow waterfall and golden beach, rainforest, wildlife and sandstone caves. Finish with an optional drink or dinner at an Aussie pub and bistro.

The Blue Mountains region incorporates significant parts of the traditional lands of the Darug tribal groups. Blue Mountains Walkabout is independently owned, operated and guided by Evan Yanna Muru, an Aboriginal person born on Darug land.

Evan is a fully accredited wilderness guide and has worked as an Aboriginal Discovery Ranger for Blue Mountains National Park and Wildlife Service. He has studied indigenous culture out in the bush, rediscovering, recording and understanding cultural sites. Evan is now an Aboriginal Site Officer and member of the Darug Custodian Aboriginal Clan. Evan provides a local and intimate understanding of the Blue Mountains and Aboriginal culture.
