The Canopy Rainforest Treehouses

Cairns Highlands, Tropical North Queensland

The Canopy Rainforest Treehouses and Wildlife Sanctuary is a unique Australian accommodation and wildlife experience. Set in 100 acres of rare and ancient rainforest located on the Cairns Highlands that is strictly for the private use of guests, this eco rainforest resort blends award winning luxury accommodation with a passionate regard for environmental and wildlife principles.

Relax in the privacy and luxury of one of the six treehouses and enjoy the rainforest around you that is teeming with wildlife. Purpose designed for comfort in the wilderness, Canopy Treehouses are perched high in the rainforest canopy on the banks of the flowing Ithaca River. The eco-friendly house designs blend in naturally with the surrounding rainforest, making it the ultimate eco-friendly rainforest resort in Australia.

The eco-friendly rainforest accommodation includes:
Treehouses: The five luxury timber and glass treehouses are totally private, each surrounded by rainforest, and overlooking the Ithica river. Each treehouse has two bedrooms, fully self contained kitchen, spa bath and balcony with a BBQ and hammock.
The Bower House: This larger award-winning treehouse with fully equipped kitchen, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, spa bath, and balcony with BBQ and hammock is nestled on top of a ridge in the rainforest edge, boasting valley and rolling green countryside views. The ideal location for larger families and groups.
The Rainforest Unit: Attached to the main building at ground level it provides assisted wheelchair access. Looking across the lawn to the rainforest, it makes viewing the wildlife easier. With a fully equipped kitchen, spa bath and two bedrooms, it is a very comfortable alternative for those with lesser mobility or a tighter budget.

In a world of rapidly shrinking pristine rainforest, the protected 100 acres of rare upland complex mesophyll vine forest at The Canopy Treehouses is part of one of the largest untouched tracts of rainforest on the Cairns Highlands. Studies conducted by the C.S.I.R.O. have shown that the rainforest surrounding The Canopy Treehouses produces an average of 4 to 7 times the amount of fruit and food than other nearby rainforests. This rich source of food along with the general deforestation in the surrounding area accounts for the phenomenally high density of rare and unique wildlife found on the property.

Resident Cassowaries, rare Lumholtz Tree Kangaroos and endangered Green Possums call our forest home whilst a thriving colony of shy platypus inhabit the river. Red-legged Pademelon Wallabies abound and Coppery Brushtail Possums will visit your balcony every night, whilst Northern Bandicoots and other marsupials forage on the evening forest floor. Wake to a serenade of birdsong every morning as Victoria’s Riflebirds, beautiful King Parrots, Spotted Catbirds and an ever-changing parade of Honeyeaters and Finches greet you on the Treehouse balcony, or wander along the many walking tracks and immerse yourself in the grandeur of pristine, old growth, high country rainforest.
