Thala Beach Lodge is a secluded coastal eco resort with deluxe timber bungalows set amongst the trees on a private, palm fringed tropical beach, 10 minutes from Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland.

The timber bungalows of this privately owned superb nature resort are scattered amongst 145 acres of wooded headland and secluded beaches, with sweeping views from rainforest clad mountains to the Coral Sea. Wooded paths weave amongst the eucalyptus trees, linking the bungalows with the main building and the resort swimming pools. A scenic path runs on down the headland and onto a spectacular and private sandy beach.

Great sensitivity has been applied to the design of the resort accommodation at Thala Beach Lodge. Each bungalow was individually built high on timber poles to minimise impact on the surrounding native trees. Beautiful Australian timber and granite has been used throughout creating an ambience that is a reflection of the surrounding natural environment, with private verandahs looking out through the canopy of trees.

The main building is designed to embrace all the elements of the tropics. Built from local timbers, it is open and spacious, allowing the cool sea breezes to flow. The polished timber reflects the warm sun of the tropics by day and the soft flicker of lamp light by night. The treehouse restaurant and lounge have stunning views over the Pacific Ocean.

Situated 45 minutes north of Cairns international airport and 10 minutes south of the village of Port Douglas, Thala Beach Lodge is located on the coast where the rainforest of the Daintree National Park meets the coral of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Set in a natural and secluded environment, which provide habitats for a range of plants and animals, tropical birds and butterflies, the resort offers bird watching with a specialist guide and personalised guided nature walks.
